Baptism is an outward sign of the inward work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus saves us and we proclaim His death and resurrection in our lives. Simply put, it's shouting to the world that we are on God's team and that we will continue to grow in relationship with Him! The Apostle Paul puts it this way:

"Don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:3-4
